WHAT IS
LOW CARBON
Low carbon simply means less carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon dioxide is a key greenhouse gas that drives global climate change. It is released through lots of different types of activities, such as; deforestation, burning fossil fuels and volcanic eruptions. Therefore by lowering the amount of CO2 we produce, we are being kinder to our planet.
RocketGro Carbon Audit
RocketGro commissioned a full independent Carbon Audit that completed in June 2022 which clearly states we are a low Carbon business. In fact the production of a bag of RocketGro Compost produces 1350% less CO2 compared to the average Peat Compost product.
RocketGro are within touching distance of Carbon Neutrality and are looking at various in-house planting and land regeneration plans to make sure that in 2024 we hit our Carbon Net Zero goal. Purchasing and then regenerating Peatland that has been stripped of Peat is one of our goals.
What is Carbon Net Zero?
Net Zero refers to the balance between the amount of greenhouse gas produced and the amount removed from the atmosphere. We reach net zero when the amount we add is no more than the amount taken away.
Why is net zero important?
Net zero is important as it’s the best way we can tackle climate change by reducing global warming. What we do in the next decade to limit emissions will be critical to the future, which is why every country, sector, industry and each one of us must work together to find ways to cut the carbon we produce.
